Travel Advice for Australia

- Over 664,000 British nationals visit Australia every year (Source: Tourism Australia). Most visits to Australia are trouble–free. See General - Consular Assistance Statistics. Australia is a vast country; you should plan your journeys carefully, particularly if travelling to remote areas, bushwalking or going swimming.
- British nationals are required to obtain visas for entry into Australia. You should ensure that you have a return or onward air ticket. Beware of scam adverts offering to sell information claiming to help you extend a working holiday visa; several British (and other foreign) nationals have had their visas cancelled as a result. - Take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling. Ensure you take extra health precautions if travelling in the Northern Territory, and parts of Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania. See Health.
